Process Development Scientist I


Provides support for new product formulation, process development, process transfers into manufacturing, investigations and continuous improvement of existing manufacturing processes

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Assists with formulation, aseptic filling and lyophilization development for new product development
  • Assist with trouble shooting, investigations and continuous improvement of existing processes
  • Provides support for process transfers into manufacturing
  • Execute laboratory experiments using quality by design (QbD) principles and documents experiments
  • Performs analytical testing to support product development studies, data analysis and reporting of results
  • Assists with drafting scientific experimental plans and protocols
  • Assists in the preparation of cGMP documents such as protocols, SOPs and batch records
  • Works under some supervision using standard and safe laboratory practices and procedures

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with parenteral formulation, lyophilization and sterilization techniques is preferred although other formulation experience is acceptable
  • Analytical hands-on experience with techniques  such as HPLC, Karl Fisher, DSC, particle analysis  and spectroscopic techniques is an advantage
  • Knowledge of chemistry and formulation principles
  • Working knowledge of aseptic techniques in a clean room environment is highly beneficial
  • Working knowledge of cGMP environment
  • Ability to work under some supervision and as a member of a cross functional team
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently

Education and Experience

  • BS in related scientific major
  • Minimum 0-2 years related experience preferably in a pharmaceutical / biotech industry
